The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2011 showcased one of the most diverse and competitive metagames of the Synchro era. Entering the tournament, Six Samurai was widely regarded as the deck to beat, having established itself as one of the strongest strategies of the March 2011 format. However, the tournament told a different story. While Six Samurai performed well, both representatives were eliminated in the Top 8, signaling the end of the deck’s dominance on the world stage. Instead, the event became a true mixed battlefield, with Debris Dragon emerging as the defining strategy through its ability to repeatedly Synchro Summon using monsters revived from the Graveyard. Eight competitors piloted Debris Dragon variants, and the Top 4 ultimately consisted of two Debris Dragon decks, one Machina Gadget deck, and one Agents deck, demonstrating that multiple archetypes were capable of competing at the highest level. The championship ultimately culminated in an all-Japanese final between Takashi Ogawa, piloting Agents, and Kei Murakoshi, using Debris Dandy.
