The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2011 was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 13–14 August 2011, bringing together the world’s best duelists to compete for the title of World Champion. TOURNAMENT overview

The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2011 showcased a diverse and competitive metagames of the Synchro era. As reported in Master Guide 4, Debris Dragon emerged as the defining monster strategy through its ability to repeatedly Synchro Summon using monsters revived from the Graveyard. This makes Debris Dandy the most representative deck in the tournament as it can leverage on Debris Dragon to make powerful synchro monsters such as Black Rose Dragon or Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, which are defining monsters of the format.

Entering the tournament, Six Samurai was widely regarded as the deck to beat, having established itself as one of the strongest strategies of the March 2011 format in Japan. While Six Samurai performed well, the two representatives that entered into the Top 8 were eliminated. Instead, the Top 4 consists of two Debris Dandy, one Machina Gadget, and one Agents. The championship ultimately culminated in an all-Japanese final between Takashi Ogawa, piloting Agents, and Kei Murakoshi, using Debris Dandy. After a contested match, Takahasi Ogawa emerged victorious, securing the title of the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Champion 2011.
